Australian Governments Call to Save Lives and Save Livelihoods

The COVID-19 pandemic has really made such a huge impact not just on a national scale but on a worldwide scale. Australian governments met on the 27th of March to discuss the measures to keep the virus from spreading and taking over our lives. Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Premier of Victoria Dan Andrews MP announced some updates regarding these measures. Here are some of the most important things to note of: The COVID-19 virus will most likely continue on for at least six months but we are hoping that it will end sooner. Until then, it’s important that we practice social distancing to protect lives and to help the nation function as well as keep the livelihood of all Australians. Testing in Australia is considered to be one of the most rigorous in the world and has completed over 180,000 tests – that’s more than the US, UK, and France. Its per capita testing rate surpassed that of South Korea. It’s vital that the nation would be able to continue these tests to protect the citizens. The National Cabinet promises to look for ways to protect Australians by looking into further measures, and any restrictions in terms of activity must flexible. There is a plan to hibernate Australian businesses so employees, opportunities, and the economy can come back effectively. When it comes to the building and construction industry, everyone must think of the situation as incredibly important. Safety procedures must be adhered to and observed at all times such as hygiene practices, social distancing, separation of workers during break time, and sites must be open and safe to prevent the virus from infecting anyone. On the 29th of March, the National Cabinet met again to discuss additional action to be done to save lives and livelihoods. Currently, the number of cases in Australia has reached 3,996 after 211,000 tests were taken. While the rate is slowing down, the total numbers are still increasing. These cases are all still connected to travelers from overseas. Here are some of the noteworthy information about the discussion conducted: More supplies such as masks, gloves, hand sanitizers, ventilators, and protective gowns from suppliers overseas as well as manufacturers from the country. The Commonwealth also announced a $1.1 billion package for medical assistance and food relief, as well as mental health service, and domestic violence support.
